The New Flexible 80A Resin at Form Now

ALL NEW Flexible 80A Resin from Formlabs
Elastomers are some of the most useful materials in engineering. They seal, cushion, grip, and absorb shock. But 3D printed elastomers have lagged behind. There’s never been a quick, easy way to get an elastomeric part that rivals the look, feel, and function of cast urethane — until now.
Formlabs just launched the new Flexible 80A Resin, a resilient, elastomeric material that rivals 80A cast urethane. Form Now offers it as a material, so you can order elastomeric parts today, even if you don’t have a printer. And if you do, you can still order a custom part in this material before committing to buying a cartridge and tank.

Parts That Snap Back (and Last)
The new Flexible 80A Resin is built to take a beating and keep its shape. Parts snap back with 56% pendulum rebound and stretch to 230% elongation before failing, so they survive repeated bending, tension, and compression. Compared with the previous version, the new formulation delivers 4x higher rebound, 2x the tear strength, 2x the elongation at break, and 5x the fatigue life.
“We are incredibly impressed with the strength and fatigue resistance of the new Flexible 80A Resin. In our application, parts manufactured in the new Flexible 80A Resin last 10 times longer than the previous generation. It’s a dramatic improvement.” — Jonathon Campion, President, Modern Body Engineering
In accelerated aging tests, parts held 87% of their elongation after 1,000 hours, so they keep performing long after they’re installed.

Looks and Feels Like Cast Urethane
With a tack-free, matte black finish, parts come off looking and feeling like a molded urethane. The team at FYi Design Dept., which prototypes wearables and technical apparel, put it simply: other 3D printed elastomers “feel dead.” These don’t.
“Flexible 80A Resin has been a gamechanger in enabling us to iterate and design faster. The team has been impressed with the rebound, elongation, and tear strength.” — Derek Disanjh, R&D Mechanical Engineer, FYi Design Dept.
